…are you a tourist in your own town?

Bentonville Square

I Love NWA and I love playing tourist in my town!

The majority of my real estate customers are relocating to this area from other parts of the country and world, so it is important for me to know what’s going on in this area. Typically I am one of the first people to show them around our area. Yes, they have usually “googled” the area and looked at the maps & schools on the internet, talked with co-workers – but until their feet hit the ground…they have no idea why they are moving to NW Arkansas, other than a new job!

It was beautiful this past week, so I decided to be a tourist in Bentonville AR. I enjoy stopping by the Downtown Square,  as there are many great local food places to sample. One of my favorites is Table Mesa Bistro,  Modern Latin with a Blend is their motto. The service is excellent and the food fabulous. The owners, Carl and Lindie Garrett opened back in 2008 and since opened several other restaurants in the NWA area. The have certainly added to the revitalization of the Downtown area.

For a fabulous ground Angus steak burger, you must visit the The Station Cafe! This is the best burger in NWA! The Station cafe was established in 1977 by Cecil & Betty Turner. Many days, you will find Cecil clearing tables or chatting to the guests.

Over the last year, several more eating places have opened around the Bentonville Square. It’s truly become a cuisine delight in Northwest Arkansas!

Till next time…..

#ICSF Ambassador – what it means…

An Inman Connect Ambassador is the “connector” to the people attending the conference; to make everyone feel welcomed. To introduce attendees to the people that they would like to meet. To share via social media technology, all the happenings that are going on with  the events occurring in real-time during the 3 days of Inman Connect.

“When you receive the invitation to be an Ambassador for #ICSF, you are giddy with excitement and anticipation. It is such an honor to be selected from thousands of smart real estate people from around the world! Still not sure how I was selected, however, I will do my best to connect people!”

Do ICSFyou know about Inman Connect, what it is and why it happens? Inman Connect was started by Brad Inman 20 years ago, and is now the premier real estate technology event for anyone that cares about the real estate industry. It is a conference like no other, thousands of people in the industry gather to share information about what is happening in the world of real estate. It doesn’t matter which brand you are associated with or where you live in the world. It is an amazing opportunity to meet and chat with successful people in the business.

I attended my first Inman Connect in San Fransisco in 2014 at the urging of several people who were Ambassadors that year that I knew from attending company conferences. Like many agents, I had not heard much about Inman Connect. Thanks to friends like Sean Carpenter, Heather Ostrom, Linda Aaron and many others, I attended. I was blown away by the amount of sharing of information, ideas, and successes! All of the Ambassadors made me feel so very welcomed and introduced me to so many people. The conference was an experience like no other! No long boring speeches, it was full of short, quick sessions with loads of information from hundreds of experienced people willing to share their knowledge. Lobby Con and the great parties strengthened relationships and conversations too!

Upon leaving that jam-packed 3 days, my brain was on overdrive! I had met people from all over the world and am blessed to continue many friendships that started with Inman Connect. This will be my 6th Inman Connect. I am very honored to be selected as an Ambassador this year.

Over 2040 licensed real estate agents in the Northwest Board of Realtors and I know of only 2 others in the entire state of Arkansas that have attended an Inman Connect conference. I urge all of my fellow agents to seriously consider attending #ICSF. You will come away with more information that you can digest and friendships that will last a lifetime. If you would like a discount code to attend  #ICSF or any information, feel free to reach out to me.

P.S. San Francisco is beautiful the first week in August, perfect weather and plenty to do while visiting!

it’s 24 days to Christmas…have you sent your letter to Santa?

Out and about Downtown Bentonville  yesterday and spotted a direct delivery to the North Pole, located at the Ice skating Rink in Lawrence Plaza. How neat is that – take the kids and drop their wish lists in direct to Santa!

North Pole Express

North Pole Express

Oh, how I remember writing letters to Santa as a child. The excitement. The wonders of it all. My brother and I looking at the catalog’s and dreaming of the toys that he would bring…of course we were always “good” that year!! The special time spent with my Papo as he looked over our shoulders to see what we were asking for and Mamo always checking the spelling and grammar.

We anxiously waited for the postman to arrive to take our letters to the North Pole. It seemed like the longest time before Christmas morning arrived to see if we were naughty or nice in Santa’s eyes.

Me and Santa

Only years later would I learn that “Santa” was my Papo..My grandfather was the director of the YMCA and a Red Cross volunteer, so each year he would visit children as “Santa”. As I got older, I was able to be an “elf” for a few years. The joy in children’s eyes when they spot Santa is magical!

Have you been naughty or nice? Get your letters in the mail to Santa.

Make memories with children and grandchildren…it lasts forever.

#GenBlue 2014 – Hollywood CA here we come!

GenBlue Hollywood

Universal Studios – One night only for Coldwell Banker associates!

Getting ready to leave Sunday evening for Hollywood CA. for the Coldwell Banker #GenBlue convention. This will be my 13th year attending the annual Coldwell Banker convention. This is an event that brings CB associates from all over the world. Looking forward to meeting the group from Spain, and seeing so many friends that I have met over the years!

I am very excited to say that we have a large group of 16 coming from our Coldwell Banker Harris McHaney & Faucette  offices here in Northwest Arkansas. Many of them have never been to Southern California – so it will be fun to show them around and maybe see a movie star or two! A trip maybe to Rodeo Drive and the Hollywood Walk of Fame may be on the agenda…

I was born and raised a few miles west of Hollywood – so this trip to #GenBlue is coming home for me. Anxious to see how the area has changed over the last several years since my last visit. I will be taking in a little “beach action” too, as I do miss the sounds of waves crashing…also a quick 2 hr. trip west to the Palm Springs area to see my brother for a day or so.

I take the time to attend these functions to better myself and my clients. It will be a jam packed 3 days of  fabulous learning sessions and the people I meet are simply the best! Coldwell Banker brings in so many top notch, amazing speakers including the divine Jane Lynch, an actress, known for Glee (2009), Wreck-It Ralph (2012) and The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005) who is speaking at the opening session at the Dolby Theater. Yes, Coldwell Banker goes all out at these events! An amazing team of great people that pull this off – hats off to the entire team!

I come back pumped and energized to get my business going to the next level! And with technology – I am still available to handle the needs of my customers while I am 22oo miles away.

This year I am wearing a dear friends’ #GenBlue badge in memory. Our dear friend and colleague, Sandy Widdicombe, suddenly gone way too soon from sudden cardiac arrest a couple of weeks ago… So she will be with us in spirit! She was so excited to come to #GenBlue this year. What an amazing women and friend….please keep her daughter and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Off to see how few things I can take for 100* weather – really! It should be in the 70’s & 80’s in SoCal this time of year – crazy weather! Hope everyone has a fabulous week!

Successful house hunting!

Don’t you love the front porch and curb appeal on this home?

This is one example of a successful house hunt in the Rogers area of  Northwest Arkansas.

I have the pleasure of representing The Cooper family on the purchase of this beautiful home. A little background – I assisted The Cooper family over 10 years ago when they moved from this area. Upon their return to NWA and the decision to start locating a home here again – they reached out to me! Just proves that real estate is about the relationships you make along the way.

This mature neighborhood offers meandering streets, large trees, and close is to everything a busy family wants or needs. We can’t share any inside pictures or purchase price yet, as we have just completed the home inspection, and are on the road to close this home early July! I can share that this home has had a beautiful make over with granite counters, wood floors, soothing colors, and a fantastic tree house in the back yard!

Successful house hunting – this is why I enjoy working as a REALTOR®. The feeling of complete satisfaction when we find a home and area that works perfect for everyone!

Please contact me if you are looking to  sell a home or to have a successful house hunting experience in Northwest Arkansas.  With over 12 years assisting people from all over the world moving in and out of this area, I can help you! I look forward to hearing from you.

Invasion of the WalMart Shareholders in Northwest Arkansas…

WalMart headquarters Bentonville Arkansas

The invasion of the WalMart Shareholders kicked off today…

Approx. 20,000 plus people  will descend upon Northwest Arkansas area for the next week. From all over the world, associates and shareholders come to see what the retail giant has accomplished, what the future plans are, and to see the sights of #NWA.

WalMart Amp

WalMart Amp – #NWA newest outdoor concert place

At least 3 – 4 times a week, I pass by the corner of Walton Blvd. and Eighth Street in Bentonville Arkansas. This week, that area and along with Downtown Bentonville, will be avoided at all cost by the “locals”! Streets are blocked off for the tons of buses carrying people in to see where it all began for WalMart. The locals know well enough to stay away from many areas this week!

Pretty sure that many will visit the beautiful Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art while they are in town. So fortunate to have this wonderful museum here.

The new WalMart Amp opens this Wed. featuring Blake Shelton. We won’t be attending, as tickets went quick at $5…(won’t get into that subject right now.) It will be interesting to see how the traffic in that area handles the estimated 6000 concert goers!

Miranda Lambert, is rumored to be part of the actual ceremony on Friday at the Bud Walton Arena, along with other secret celebrities. WalMart does bring in big name celebrities! You never  who you will see in the area.

No matter your thoughts on the retail giant – it certainly has put Northwest Arkansas on the map! And to think I had no clue 22 years ago what the heck WalMart was about when I moved to a then sleepy Northwest Arkansas town!

It’s going to be a traffic nightmare with the Invasion of the WalMart Shareholders and associates this week. Be patient locals, and please extend a warm welcome to our guests.
